Here are 5 stunning, zero-effort-required elopement spots right along I-70 that prove you don’t need a grueling trek to get legendary photos. but Rest assured, there are plenty of accessible yet gorgeous spots to elope in Colorado along I-70.
1. Pass Lake at Loveland Pass
- Vibe: Above-treeline drama with reflective tundra waters.
- Accessibility: God-tier.
- The Walk: Park on US-6 (right off I-70), take ten steps on a flat dirt path, and boom—you’re at the lake.
At over 11,000 feet, Pass Lake gives you that high-alpine aesthetic—crisp air, massive peaks, glassy reflections—without making you earn it through cardio. Step out of the car, take a deep breath, and get married right there. Just bring a jacket, because wind at 11k feet does not play around. 2. Officer’s Gulch
- Vibe: Moody pine forest around a glass-like mountain pond.
- Accessibility: High.
- The Walk: A quick ~50-yard stroll on flat dirt/gravel from your trunk.
Tucked between Frisco and Copper, Officer’s Gulch feels like a secret mountain sanctuary hidden in plain sight. The pond mirrors the surrounding peaks, serving lush greens in summer and glowing aspens in the fall. Zero incline, 100% vibe. This is a favorite accessible yet gorgeous spots to elope in Colorado along I-70. You may see other couple sat Officer’s Gulch doing the same thing, but it is large enough that we can find a secluded area where we have more privacy.
3. Curtain Pods at Tenmile Creek Trailhead
- Vibe: Rushing streams framed by wild willow thickets and steep canyon walls.
- Accessibility: Very high (right around the lot).
- The Walk: Paved to packed dirt, right off the trailhead parking area near Frisco.
Located at the mouth of Tenmile Canyon, this area features gorgeous, naturally framed alcoves (“curtain pods”) formed by thick greenery along the water. You get the roaring creek and huge canyon walls without having to haul ass up the trail. If you’re a fisherman, Curtain ponds are a great spot to stop and fish, just make sure you have your CO fishing license, get it HERE if you don’t have one already.
4. Along the Colorado River in Dotsero
- Vibe: Desert-meets-canyon red rocks and massive open skies.
- Accessibility: High.
- The Walk: Pull off Colorado River Road and step straight onto the bank.
West of Glenwood Canyon, Dotsero flips the script into full desert-canyon mode. Red rock formations, sweeping river curves, and virtually zero foot traffic. You can literally drive up, step out, and say “I do” right on the shoreline.
5. Colorado River Banks near Hanging Lake Trailhead (Rest Area)
- Vibe: Towering 1,000-foot canyon cliffs meeting bright turquoise waters.
- Accessibility: High (fully paved path).
- The Walk: Flat as a pancake on the paved Glenwood Canyon Recreation Trail. (not the trail to the lake)
The actual hike up to Hanging Lake is an absolute thigh-burner, but the base of the canyon at the rest area? Smooth sailing. Walk right onto the paved path, grab a spot next to the roaring Colorado River, and let the massive cliffs do the talking.
